The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has released its predictions for seven days ending August 26, 2024.

According to the KMD, intermittent cold and cloudy conditions will be experienced in the highlands, west and east of the Rift Valley, the South-Eastern lowlands and Rift Valley regions. The department advises individuals in these areas to take necessary precautions and keep warm.

The forecast has also revealed heavy rainfall on August 21st in the North Western parts of Rift Valley.

Light to moderate rains shall be received in the Central Highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, and North Western and North Eastern Kenya. The rest of the country shall be moderately dry.

Some parts of the Central Highlands, Rift Valley, and South Eastern lowlands will experience low-night temperatures of below 10 degrees Celsius. Those living in these regions, therefore, are to dress warmly.

On the other hand, temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius are likely to be experienced in the coastal, North-Eastern and North-Western regions. The coastal dwellers are, therefore, requested to stay hydrated and be in protective gear against the heat.

The KMD strongly advises using national weather forecasts in collaboration with the county-level meteorological departments' daily (24-hour) forecast. County-specific forecasts are readily available from respective County Directors of Meteorology offices, empowering you to make informed decisions.

The Public Weather Services (PWS) aims to produce forecasts that will help the Kenyan public make informed decisions about day-to-day activities.

To mitigate their impacts, they warn people about extreme weather conditions, contributing immensely to protecting life.
