He has pointed at farm preparation, saying, “As I had said earlier, to be able to get productivities to the best levels, you need land preparation as it is a big component of throughput.

Dr Ruto has additionally hinted at sound choice of seeds, citing his government’s efforts to ensuring seed companies deliver high quality seeds to farmers. “The success of farming is land preparation but also the use of good quality seeds. We are working with seed companies to ensure we have enough seeds in the country. Whether it is wheat, potatoes, or maize,” he opined.

The Head of State has linked the significance of food security to the stability of a nation, stating, “food security is more important than any other form of security because any nation that cannot feed itself has major challenges.”

In the same spirit, President Ruto has assured his counterparts in the farming sector that his administration will continue supporting their endeavours as these acts contribute remarkably to the food security status of Kenya. “I want to encourage farmers across Kenya that this is an exercise in nation building and all of us must put in our best and I want to assure them that the Government of Kenya will be right there behind them,” he concluded.
