Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic loss of life in Bulambuli District, Eastern Uganda, following devastating flash floods and landslides triggered by relentless heavy rainfall.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives,” Mudavadi stated, extending heartfelt condolences to the families of the 13 individuals who have perished, as well as to those displaced or who have lost their homes and livelihoods in this disaster.
As Ugandan authorities tirelessly conduct evacuation, search, and rescue operations, Mudavadi emphasized the hope for the safe recovery of over 100 individuals reported missing. “To all the affected families and our brothers and sisters in Uganda, we stand in solidarity with you,” he declared, wishing them strength and resilience during this challenging time.

As of November 28, 2024, the Uganda Red Cross Society indicated that 45 houses had been completely buried, 15 people injured, 12 admitted to Buluganya Health Centre III and 3 referred to Muyembe Health Centre III. Furthermore, 15 more dead bodies had been recovered. These include 6 females, 9 males (7 of these are children including 6 boys and 1 girl), all from Mamolo and Masugu villages.
