The first edition of the Nakuru Mkulima Digital Awards took place on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Kingdom International Premiere School in Nakuru County.

Themed "Celebrating Innovation and Technology in Farming, the event was officiated by the Chief Officer for Livestock, Fisheries and Veterinary Services, Dr Michael Cheruiyot and Nakuru County Chief Officer for ICT, E-government and Public Communication, Catherine Changwony. Over 400 farmers across Nakuru County were recognized for pioneering the use of Digital Technologies in farming.

The event highlighted resilience within the agricultural sector and underscored the importance of leveraging technology to drive growth and sustainability.

It integrated all the agricultural sectors, including crop, dairy, poultry, fish, and beekeeping. Nakuru Mkulima Digital has existed for over 3 years and has been at the forefront of training farmers.

The awards included Beevectoring, Mobile Applications, Conservation Agriculture, Agroforestry, Precision Agriculture, Indoor Vertical Farming, Livestock Farming Technology, Farm Automation, and Climate Change.

Charis Farm Naivasha Kenya was honoured with the Indoor Vertical Farming Slot Award, and Slow Food Kenya was awarded for the most outstanding Bio Diversity Consideration.

In contrast, Eunidrip Irrigation Systems took home the Bes Irrigation Technology trophy. The Greenthumb team was included as it received an exceptional award for its work in Aquaponics.

Nakuru Mkulima Digital Awards marks a pivotal moment in Nakuru County's agricultural evolution, showcasing how digital innovation can drive economic growth and agricultural productivity.
