• In his statement on X, CS Duale stated that his attention was drawn to a Special Use License issued to a Special Use licence issued to Karura Golf Range Limited by Kenya Forest Service on June 14, 2023, for the development, operation and management of a mini golf park in the Ngong Forest.

Kenya's Cabinet Secretary(CS) for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry Aden Duale has directed The Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) and the Director General of NEMA to revoke the two licenses given to the Karura Golf Range Limited.

The licenses allowed for constructing a restaurant and a mini golf park in the Ngong Forest. CS Duale further ordered them to prepare a detailed brief within 72 hours.

The suspension was after a great public outcry, which sparked concerns about the project's environmental impact. The Kenya Forest Service has been directed to refrain from any additional licences.

In an effort to prevent similar controversies, an audit of all previously issued licenses is expected to be conducted in due course to ensure transparency and accountability.
