Mosiria has highlighted the need for local business owners and residents to take responsibility for their immediate surroundings. "It is your responsibility to clean a 10-meter radius within your spot," he urged.
The Chief Officer of Environment for Nairobi County Geoffrey Mosiria recently initiated a comprehensive clean-up initiative around the Central Business District (CBD).The initiative not only focused on cleaning the streets but also emphasized the importance of community involvement in maintaining cleanliness.
"We have had a cleanup exercise to ensure Nairobi CBD is clean and restore it from the waste pollution that has plagued the city," Mosiria stated.
Mosiria has highlighted the need for local business owners and residents to take responsibility for their immediate surroundings. "It is your responsibility to clean a 10-meter radius within your spot," he urged.
The clean-up efforts go beyond merely picking up litter; they include washing the streets to enhance the city's appearance. "I am urging Nairobi residents to ensure it’s their responsibility. Clean your spot and ensure you do not litter near the road," he added.

Despite these initiatives, illegal dumping continues to pose a significant challenge. Mosiria pointed out that some business communities, hawkers, and matatu operators are improperly disposing of waste by exploiting street families.
"I urge all businesses, hawkers, and matatu operators to take full responsibility for the garbage they generate by disposing of it at designated holding points," he stated.
For those who prefer not to rely on county services to manage waste transfer to the Dandora dumpsite, he encouraged registration with private waste collection service providers.
"Maintaining a clean city is a shared responsibility," Mosiria emphasized. "If we all embrace change and manage waste responsibly from source to final disposal, we can achieve a cleaner, healthier environment for everyone."
