To stay on track with targets such as limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, electric vehicles would need to make up between 75 percent and 95 percent of all new passenger car sales globally by 2030.

Air pollution is also a global problem because it does not stay within national borders. Pollutants released in one area can travel long distances and affect people living far away. This reality shows why international cooperation is the only way forward.

Clean air is a human right. The United Nations General Assembly formally declared this right in 2022, following the UN Human Rights Council's recognition of the right to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment in 2021.

The pilot project will monitor key pollutants, including particulate matter, black carbon, and various weather parameters.
