• Odhengo declared that the time for talks has ended, and it is now crucial for each country to take responsibility for combating climate change.

In a statement on April 17, 2024, Peter Odhengo, the Head of the Climate Finance and Green Economy Unit at the FLLOCA (Foreign and Local Climate Action) organization, emphasized the urgent need for action on climate change.

Odhengo declared that the time for talks has ended, and it is now crucial for each county to take responsibility for combating climate change.

"We are on our own," Odhengo warned. "When it comes to climate change response mechanisms and means of implementation, if we don't take the responsibility, we will perish, we will cry."

Odhengo stressed that counties must develop strategies to address climate change and its impacts. He highlighted the importance of local adaptation and the need for resources to support community-led climate action, particularly in rural areas.

"The resources available are meant to support local adaptation," Odhengo explained. "We must respond by financing locally led climate action. This program is designed by Kenyans for Kenyans and is supported by the governments of Germany and Sweden, as well as the World Bank and other partners."

Recognizing the potential impact of young individuals, Odhengo encouraged young people to contribute their intellect and skills to climate action in their villages. He called on them to return to their communities and find ways to make meaningful contributions towards addressing climate change.
