President William Ruto has unveiled the Climate WorX Mtaani program, set to kick off in Nairobi County on October 1, 2024, before expanding to other counties across the nation.

During the launch event held in Korogocho on September 12, 2024, Ruto emphasized the program's importance in engaging youth and revitalizing the Nairobi Rivers Ecosystem, among other environmental and sanitation initiatives.

"The initiative will be rolled out to four major cities of Kisumu, Mombasa, Eldoret, and Nakuru within a month," Ruto announced.

Climate WorX Mtaani aims to employ 20,000 youth to clean and restore a 42-kilometer stretch of the Nairobi River. President Ruto encouraged young people to seize this opportunity, stating, "I urge you to apply through www.crsp.go.ke for a chance to secure these jobs."

In his remarks, Ruto framed the launch of the National Climate Resilience Programme popularly known as Climate WorX Mtaani as a pivotal step toward building climate resilience, restoring natural ecosystems, and generating meaningful employment for young Kenyans.

“Climate WorX Mtaani is a powerful, inclusive, and transformative intervention aimed at achieving ecological restoration while enhancing public infrastructure and housing through labor-intensive and sustainable public works,” he stated.
