• On August 14, 2024, the KAF team held an Investor Relations (IR) demo day in Cape Town, South Africa, which featured seven innovative Korean climate technology startups.

On August 27, 2024, Mamo B. Mamo, the Director General, National Environment Management Authority of Kenya (NEMA) received officials from the Korea Africa Foundation (KAF), who visited to promote technology related to climate change.

"The technologies include, Thanks Carbon (Creates reliable and high-quality Carbon credits) Solarinno (Desalination technology), Ecolinks (Developing eco-friendly cook stoves and other products tailored specifically to meet carbon credit requirements) and beyond Captur (Innovative electric Chemical-based carbon capture technology)," NEMA said in part.

In addition to promoting the technologies, the KAF is actively seeking opportunities for partnership with NEMA and other like-minded organizations. These partnerships, aimed at localizing the manufacturing of these technologies, have the capability to significantly impact our collective fight against climate change.

The IR demo day was part of the 2024 Global Market Expansion Program (GMEP). The Korea Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Startups guided the day's success, which was managed by the Korea Institute for Entrepreneurship Development (KISED) and organized by the foundation.

Key stakeholders from the startup ecosystem, including prominent venture capital investors from South Africa, government officials, and major corporations engaged in climate tech, participated in the event.

This program is to be conducted entirely for six weeks. The first three weeks will be in South Africa, and the last three weeks will culminate in Kenya.

As Kenya emerges as a global hub for climate tech, attracting attention from across the world, the KAF team is eagerly anticipating the engagements and significant attainments that await them in the Kenya segment of the program. They look forward to the exciting opportunities and progress that this segment will bring.
